State-spending trends remind me of a friend I once knew. No matter how big the paycheck, he never brought enough home from the tavern on payday to cover the basic needs of his family such as rent, electricity and food.
Eventually, his wife tired of the mania and sent him packing. State tax revenues are huge (we're talking billions here), yet never enough to cover the basics mandated by the Constitution: public safety, education, transportation, etc. When will we tire of the tax-and-spend mania and send those responsible packing?
