I question the wisdom (or lack thereof) of the USPS putting forth any money, let alone such a huge amount, to sponsor a sports figure. That should be left to private enterprise to do if they wish. What could possibly be the good of it? Selling more stamps? Then to have that sports figure be a happily confessed doper besides. Will they ever recover the money? Already in trouble as the unloved stepchild of Congress, I think not.
Also, I've wondered if the USPS pays for those prime time ads on TV or are they public service announcements? They might as well keep Saturday delivery, as closing the mail-handling facility in Pasco will delay delivery enough. Maybe Lance could pitch in to give a little help here.
