After reading about the death of Kevin Culp, I was appalled. Mr. Culp's death was characterized as an accident; however the events leading up to his death seem like no accident at all.
Culp was a known epileptic who was sent here without his seizure medication. Why? Not surprising that after two days without his medicine he suffered a seizure. Instead of treating him for his seizure, Benton County tasers him! That's right, they tasered a man suffering from an epileptic seizure!
When they pick him up to move him, they fall, causing him to hit his head. Then, while he is still in the middle of his seizure, they constrain him and walk away. Fifteen minutes later, they check on him and he is unconscious because he has basically suffocated. They call 911 and medics transport him to Kadlec where he dies eight days later.
An independent investigative unit comprised of local law enforcement personnel rule it an accident. Independent? Sounds like the good ole boys doing the big CYA.
Never miss a local story.
Sincere condolences to the Culp family, I hope they obtain a good attorney and sue Benton County for this gross act of negligence and incompetence.
