Washington taxpayers reimbursed state Rep. Brad Klippert "about $480" in laundry expenses for the few months he spends in Olympia. That came to about $160 per month for laundry expenses.
Our state representatives receive $42,000 for the three or so months they spend in Olympia. That's about $14,000 per month. In addition, they receive a $90 per diem for extra time spent in Olympia.
When my husband was in the military serving his country, there was a dress code. He dropped off his uniforms to be cleaned. He paid for this service himself.
In the interests of individual fiscal responsibility and with a salary of $14,000 a month, perhaps Klippert may decide to take responsibility for his own laundry bills.
