The upcoming Pasco school bond election is important for the students of the district. The significant growth of student enrollment has dramatically affected school buildings across the district. This impact is significant at the elementary and middle schools because the gyms, libraries, lunch and music rooms were built for smaller student enrollment at those schools.
The student enrollment continues to grow because of the improving economic picture in the area (e.g., vit plant construction restart) and the resurgence of home construction in Pasco.
The alternatives -- multi-track year round schools and double shifting -- cost as much as the bond but are short-term solutions to the overcrowding. The more efficient and economically sound approach is to construct new facilities to house the current and future students in the district.
The students are the focus of this bond. It is how we can continue to provide a quality education in quality buildings for all students in the district. Please vote for the Pasco School District bond.
Never miss a local story.
