-- RICHARD SEDLACEK, Kennewick
A "no" vote is not an anti-gay statement. It is a statement that marriage is between one man and one woman. My faith teaches me to respect all human life from conception to natural death and this includes people with same-sex orientation. This is based on the doctrine of the Trinity.
My main concern is the future legal ramification of this referendum. Once the law is changed same-sex marriage will have to be taught in our schools as normal. Those who hold that marriage is between one man and one woman will be prosecuted for "hate" speech and the list goes on.
The question about rights, freedom and equality will be decreased for a large part of our society. R-74 conception of marriage is wrong from the start; it presumes marriage is only a matter of what two consenting adults desire.
Massachusetts legalized same-sex marriage in 2004. Go to massresistance.org and see what has happened. Too many people see only the top of the iceberg above the water. They don't see below. There is a lot more going on here than meets the eye. Be informed, the cost is too high.
