SUE BENEDETTI, Richland
I am a mom, and I love being a mother. I have three wonderful daughters. My youngest daughter is gay. She's kind, loving and supportive and always has been.
She is a firefighter, of which I am terribly proud. I don't think anyone she has rushed to help during a fire or an auto accident has ever first asked her if she is gay before they would allow her to help them. They're just glad she and her co-workers are there.
All she really wants is to be treated equally -- not separately -- equally! She would love to be able to legally marry the love of her life if she chooses.
As her mother who loves her so very much, I ache with every fiber of my being for this to happen. Don't all parents always want the best for their children?
I implore each of you reading this to look in your hearts and do the compassionate thing when you receive your ballots and vote to approve Referendum 74.
