JOAN ACRES, Moses Lake
I would like to thank everyone in the Tri-City area for the support and generosity for the Walk to End Alzheimer's sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association.
I have personal knowledge of this disease and the toll it takes on families and friends. It is very aptly described as "the long goodbye" as those who love and care for someone with this disease must often watch for years as their loved one changes and is no longer able to do the simplest thing for themselves.
Programs and material to educate are provided free, but this support and the research to find a cure take money. Statistics show the numbers of people with this disease will increase as the baby boomers age.
Never miss a local story.
Because this applies to me, my family and friends, I am so grateful to people who care and understand that supporting the walk will help us all.
