The Tri-Cities needs at least Kadlec and KGH. And add to the list of absolute necessities Lourdes and the specialty, surgery, emergent care and a continually advanced clinic system that serves our citizens with medical care only found now in the Seattles of the world.
The question is not whether we need both hospitals and the ancillary clinics that spawn from them, the question is can we do without both of them and their continued expansion to excellence? As a subject of Richland and a working stiff in Kennewick, I agree with my wife: If we were asked to pay a tax to support medical care in Pasco, bring it on ... we have kids and grandkids there. Our family uses all three hospitals and they serve us well.
Advanced medical care is a most important asset of this area and for the surrounding region. And living in south Richland, I am equidistant from the new KGH hospital and Kadlec. We will rue the day we do not support major medical facilities in every corner of the Tri-Cities.
