I am very disturbed by the political discourse in our country. It is one thing to have a fundamentally different philosophy about the direction our country should be going, but it's another to use lies, deception and voter suppression to win an election.
The Republicans have made it very clear what their intentions are, and they will do absolutely anything to win, no matter how unethical or immoral it is.
Unfortunately, about half of the American people believe their distortions and lies on numerous topics. This is what disturbs me the most. When we don't know the facts (the truth), then how can we make informed decisions that affect our country?
It doesn't matter which side of the political spectrum we are on, as Americans it is our duty and privilege to help guide our country. We have to be told the truth to do it! Please stand up for truth in politics.
Never miss a local story.
I think we should pass a federal law making it illegal to use deception and lies in any political advertising, function and/or capacity, punishable by a significant fine and mandatory prison time. That should stop it, so we can reclaim our democracy. Who wants to start developing the bill?
