The wildfires near Cle Elum are a stark example of why we need Clint Didier as our state lands commissioner. Seventy homes were lost because our current lands commissioner isn't allowing timber to be harvested, the dead trees and undergrowth to be cleared out or ranchers to lease graze on our public ranges.
The wildfires are more dangerous for our firefighters because of Goldmark's "leadership." To allow all of that fuel to lie there waiting for a spark should be criminal.
Clint is a second-generation farmer. He has protected his lands with smart management, as any true conservationist does, and he will bring that expertise to the Office of Lands Commissioner.
We need a true forest husbandry program implemented by Clint Didier, rather than the "burn, baby, burn!" rape of our natural resources.
Remember, money raised from grazing leases and timber harvesting go to our state's public education; Goldmark is shortchanging our kids in school and the taxpayers who are forced to make up the shortfall in education.
