I was offended by your Aug. 15 headline, "Man says he is willing to run Vista Field." This "man" is Carl Cadwell, a successful businessman, community leader and pilot. Two years ago, the Port of Kennewick commissioners voted unanimously to keep Vista Field open. Why in the world are they bringing this up again and wanting to spend $225,000 for a study? The commissioners already did a recent study and master plan on Vista Field and adopted it. Two major employers have spent millions on new buildings around Vista Field on the word of the commissioners that it would stay open.
I know the public doesn't realize that doctors, dentists, the governor and pilots from all over the country fly into Vista Field on a daily basis. Cadwell would make Vista Field a viable part of our community and most likely run it better than it ever has.
The commissions better sit back and look at how stupid they think the public is and at how the commissioners keep changing their minds whenever they feel like it. Do we want another Columbia Park lawsuit because some committee changed its mind?
Give Cadwell the opportunity to show this community what an asset Vista Field can be and how it can be run by a successful businessman.
