Recently I passed a sign in a yard that read, "Gay Pride." I wondered what that meant. Did this person choose to become gay? Did he or she work at it, practice it for hours, weeks, years until he or she could finally claim with pride "I'm gay"?
How does one achieve pride in one's sexual orientation? Should I be jealous because I have not achieved being gay? Would people be offended if I announced "I'm proud I'm not gay"? It's not my fault I'm not gay. I was born this way. Am I supposed to be ashamed? Does it even matter?
Why would a man pull up to a drive-thru window at Chick-Fil-A and announce to the girl in the window "I'm totally not gay"? Really?
