In April, the Herald published a letter from me describing the refusal of the management of the Richland Community Center to work with facility users ("Stubborn staff," April 11).
After an initial promising response by the director of the Parks and Recreation Department, no actions were taken and more problems have arisen. Facility management is at best indifferent to users and often is hostile.
We hear "too much cards," too much "bridge," and "too many senior programs." The stated "purpose" of the center on the Richland website is: 'contains the Administrative, Park Planning and Construction Division and Recreation Division offices of the Parks and Recreation Department."
Current management practices suggest that the purpose really could be offices, rather than a thriving community center. If you share these concerns, please let the Richland City Council know. The management of this fine facility must be changed.
