I went to the musical event Drums Along The Columbia on July 1. Drum and bugle corps from four cities performed. I knew it would be wonderful because I was a member of the Tri-City Columbians during the '60s. We were state champions many times and one time placed fifth in the nation. Seems so long ago.
We were not a morally, spiritually and financially bankrupt nation then. Anybody who is honest with himself and old enough, knows how we lost our way. If there is any chance of finding our way home, then this kind of wholesome activity is one step toward it. The work ethic, cooperation, camaraderie and the winning and failing are all part of it.
