I find it amusing to read Louie D. Smith's defensive letter (June 10) to the Herald where he attempts to set the record straight for Ronda Evans and others who'd have the audacity to point a finger at the GOP for the ills of this nation. His defense amounts to all the Democratic control of both Congress and the White House in the last six years.
What Mr. Smith and others fail to grasp is it doesn't matter who's in the White House. Corporate sybarites, their lackey lobbyists, and three branches of government -- with both Democratic and especially Republican enablers with their 1 percent brethren, run the country. Obama's campaign in '08 excited people; he caved (or converted) to the moneyed elite as soon as in office.
Mr. Smith, do you really know people in Congress with your interests at heart? I seriously doubt you do.
As for your comment "FOX News is watched by more Americans than most of the other cable news stations combined" tells me how bad things really are. Mercy.
Never miss a local story.
... Just saying.
