The high bench has confirmed that Obamacare's individual mandate is a massive tax on the American middle class. But lets not forget the 21 other new taxes that are embedded in the law. Though President Obama never sold it as a tax hike, the Supreme Court ruled the mandate is exactly that. Forcing citizens to buy health insurance "is absolutely not a tax increase," Obama insisted in 2009. Earlier, he assured the public that raising taxes on the middle class to support his health care plan was "the last thing we need in an economy like this." But his plan, which subsidizes some 30 million uninsured, amounts to a $1.8 trillion whammy on working families and that's just for starters. This is the biggest tax increase in American history and with 500 billion from Medicare will be a travesty to seniors., let alone the Medicaid debacle that will hurt the poor. Experts say 75 percent of Obamacare costs are going to fall on Americans making less than 120K a year.
This bill has never been about health care but more government control over our lives. I have read many parts of the bill and it scares me to my core. Our system isn't perfect, and there are many things we can do to make it better, but Roberts and the rest just made things a lot worse.
I for one, think it is time for the Supreme Court members to have term limits -- a lifetime appointment is far too long. We must all remember that elections have consequences and I think we are getting a good lesson.
