I want to disrespect the helicopter pilot who "visited" my Richland neighborhood on a recent Saturday morning. My windows were open, my head was comfortably in the pillows, and I was sleeping the aircraft flew by and shook the area.
I jumped to my feet and sprung out the bedroom sliding glass door only to see the tail end of the helicopter approximately 300 feet off the ground traveling north over Tanglewood Drive and our neighborhood.
I'm sure the pilot thought this was funny, but I'm also sure our Tri-City air traffic controllers can help identify the helicopter in Richland skies at 6 a.m. June 23.
The pilot obviously did not have adequate training as evidenced by his putting our lives, our families and our homes in danger. Thrill seekers should not be flying helicopters 300 feet off the ground in our neighborhoods at 6 a.m. Shame.
Never miss a local story.
