I am amazed but not surprised. It is commonly known that throughout the years, Benton County has been fighting with and about the fairgrounds.
When did the grounds become private property of the county commissioners? It is in the public's interest to expand the use of the the horse facilities, yet every time someone like Bob Lawrence takes an interest and promotes horse activities, the county commissioner's step in and create havoc. Wow, what a shame.
I have known Lawrence and his wife for more than 25 years and have dealt with them financially several times. I have never known them to be anything but honest, hard-working people. Let them continue to have their lease and provide the horse people in our community a place to play and have fun. Most of the horse people I know are fine and upstanding citizens. There are thousands of us, and we all vote.
Thank you, Benton County commissioners, for shutting down yet another horse activity. Do you not like young people taking interest in family oriented fun? Whoops, that is not politically correct.
Never miss a local story.
