The president recently announced plans to enforce parts of the DREAM Act, which Congress never passed.
A few days later, the June 19 Walla Walla Union Bulletin published a story that stated three undocumented immigrants were arrested on gun and drug crimes, one being a known gang member. It also stated that Walla Walla County Undersheriff Edward Freyer said it is uncertain how the trio's immigration status will factor into their arrest after President Obama's decision to suspend deportation for illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States when they were young.
I read another story on the internet that stated the president invoked executive privilege regarding the release of documents relating to Operation Fast and Furious -- the government-sponsored gun running that allowed close to 2,000 guns into Mexico. Some of the weapons later appeared at U.S. crime scenes, including the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Apparently, the release of those documents would be damning to the president and/or others in his administration.
Is the rule of our country still controlled by the Constitution, or has it changed to something else? Do disclaimers need to be added to classes in government? Based on recent events, it would seem so.
