The potential loss of the TRAC facilities and loss of Sun Downs Training Center's lease at the Benton County Fairgrounds are blows to the horse community. The Tri-Cities, however, has another first-class venue for equine activities.
The Franklin County Saddle Club has served the Tri-City horse community from its current location since 1964. The 13-acre facility includes four Lighted arenas, grandstands, 116 stalls, a round pen, office area, announcer's booth, 36 camp sites, two restroom locations, bathhouses with showers and a clubhouse with two 85 person meeting rooms -- one with full kitchen facilities.
The grounds are irrigated grass with numerous trees for shade during our warm summer months. Located on Road 60 in Pasco, FCSC has easy access from Interstate 82 at Road 68, is near the airport and a wide variety of other accommodations, such as restaurants and shopping.
FCSC holds two major shows, the Supreme Cowboy Race, schooling shows and a number of clinics and other events. Equine clubs and other groups rent the grounds for their events and meetings. I believe we should support a facility that has been serving our horse community for many years. It's here, it's now and it's a fantastic facility.
Never miss a local story.
