I live next to the Benton County Fairgrounds and have enjoyed watching the place come to life during the time it was leased by a group of horsemen.
I'm discouraged that county bureaucrats, threatened by the competence and inclusive nature of the horsemen, have terminated that lease. The folks from the county don't seem to want horse people on "their" grounds.
County personnel make it difficult for our local horse racing meet to run, and I have personally been rudely treated by them.
Benton County should be thanking the horsemen for all of the improvements made to barn areas, at no taxpayer expense, rather than kicking them out.
Never miss a local story.
