The latest newsletter from the Franklin County PUD describes the subsidies that we are being charged to support wind power development in the Northwest.
The developers cried when their income was reduced because the power that was generated was not needed during the high river water volume in the spring so that they didn't get their payments.
These are the same wind farms that have been built with government subsidies and maintained with tax credits. The cost could reach $50 million next year and we customers are the ones who will pay for it, thanks to a foolish policy.
We had previously been treated to the information that 20 percent of our Franklin County PUD electric bill goes to pay for the Bonneville Power Administration's fish program, costs that are also being questioned.
Never miss a local story.
We appreciate the efforts of our board members fighting to keep the costs down and the lines operating despite massive payments, some caused by bloated government bodies.
