I don't know what to say about gas prices. I drive 100 miles per day to get back and forth to work, so I'm as hooked on $4 gas as one can get. I think all the factors that are commonly discussed play a part, however the biggest issue can still be traced back to our lack of a clear national energy policy. I don't care what political party you belong to, our national energy policy sucks and has sucked for 20 years. The energy policy suckiness is only the symptom, not the problem.
The major problem that this country has is an absolute and utter lack of leadership. We don't have integrity-filled leaders in federal, state and local government, nor are they found all throughout the private sector. Don't get me wrong, there are great leaders sprinkled in our area and across the country, but not enough.
Fix the leadership problem and the energy, health care, foreign policy, defense, domestic entitlements, education, transportation, securities, environmental and laziness problems will significantly improve. Oh yeah, then there's that silly $16,000,000,000,000 deficit thingy to work on ...
