This old country boy needs someone to explain what's going on.
Being retired, I only catch two or three clips of the president's daily set of speeches. His texts indicate to me that he has been right critical of the greedy rich folks and would like to take them down a peg.
His attacks on the well-to-do are puzzling because it seems that the more he slams them, the more they are willing to donate to his re-election campaign. A recent Hollywood party awarded him some $13 million, and perhaps the harder he kicks the rich folks in the shins the more they pony up.
It could be explained in a couple of ways -- that they have all agreed he can publicly chastise them as long as he keeps their perks coming or, fearing some Chicago-style retribution, the well-fixed think they'd better stay on the president's good side to avoid unpleasantness.
Since the Obama family, with a 2011 income of about $798,000 must consider themselves as "lower middle class" by comparison, we have to remember that not all of us poor folk have a fully staffed 747 at our beck and call.
Maybe someone can clarify.
