In response to Joy K. Rasch's May 16 letter on this topic, the accusation that Republicans in the Senate oppose the Violence Against Women Act is another ploy by liberals to vilify the right.
The reason why Republicans in the Senate are opposed to this act is that Sen. Chuck Schumer and some other liberals have included attachments that they know Republicans will not accept.
There has never been any attachments to this act before. In my view, it is the Democrats playing politics with this important issue, and relying on uninformed voters to read only the headlines.
I would appreciate if the Herald's opinion editors and Joy K. Rasch would investigate the attachments proposed by the Senate Democrats before publishing such biased rhetoric on the Republicans supposed opposition to this important act.
Never miss a local story.
