I cannot believe the shortsightedness of the port, council and people of Kennewick. I have been in Kennewick for 10 years. I am a pilot and when I came here, I could not find a hanger at Vista field. I had to go to Pasco. I own a hanger in Caldwell, Idaho, a city of comparable size that has promoted their field. The price of the hangers is increasing (unlike Kennewick). They have ambious plans for their airport (unlike Kennewick). If the public got behind the airport, especially with Toyota Center so close, I believe that substantial business (money) could be achieved.
The reason that has not happened is because too many people are looking at the short-term prospect of money coming in from developers. We need to look at the longterm, not shortterm. The port commissioners need to visit Caldwell, Idaho.
