I wish to use the occasion of Armed Forces Day this Saturday to thank all the current and former members of the armed forces for allowing us to enjoy liberty and freedom daily.
I have the privilege of interacting with current members of the armed forces and they are head and shoulders better than my companions in Vietnam. Bigger, smarter, better trained and totally dedicated to keeping the United States free.
If you join me in supporting them, you can wear a Buddy Poppy. They are available from the local VFW members at locations around town.
The Buddy Poppy has been used to show solidarity with current and veteran members of the armed forces who have guarded and even now guard the gates of liberty.
Since World War I, this symbol has been used to show care for vets. It is a representation of the poppies that grew in Flanders after the war. All money collected as donations will be used locally to support vets in need here in the Tri-Cities. May God bless America and those who keep her free.
