I am proud and optimistic to see that the Tri-City Herald editorial board has endorsed Alberta Redwing for Benton County coroner. So many times we voters have been guilty of not knowing anything about the candidates, let alone the real requirements of the position and what qualifications would make the candidate successful.
We lead busy lives and taking
the time to research and make informed decisions somehow gets pushed to the back burner. So how do we decide? Frequently we choose along party lines; sometimes we know someone who has an opinion; sometimes we go with the incumbent and sometimes we vote for the best politician - the one with the most signs, the most babies kissed and the most hands shaken.
If you are undecided on this race and plan to use one of these methods, allow me to assist you: Both candidates are Republicans, so no help there. If you know someone who has been served by Redwing, then you already have her sign in your yard and your own draft of a letter to the editor on her behalf. The incumbent isn't running for re-election. And we most certainly do not need a politician in this office. We need someone with skill, knowledge and experience working as a coroner. We need Alberta Redwing.
Never miss a local story.
