OMG, people! Do you realize how much specialized training a police motorcycle officer goes through yearly to keep their motorcycle status? Citizens simply renew their endorsements. A motorcycle officer knows better than any rider about speed, road conditions, bike handling, whatever. They are at greater risk of injury than a person in a car if they disobey the laws.
Recent letters criticized the Washington State Patrol's decision not to issue Kennewick police Sgt. Ken Lattin a ticket after his recent accident. Are these letter writers calling state troopers liars and alledging that they falsified reports? I've read many articles where officers, mayors, etc., have been cited and charged when they commit an offense. And also hear about many "regular" people who get away with a warning and are not cited. Could it be that the roundabout by the blue bridge is just poorly engineered, as proved by other accidents? Officers put their lives on the line every day. Do you think they are going to increase that danger by acting carelessly? Ken Lattin is a responsible person and one of KPD's highly skilled motorcycle officers.
