Re: “Recycling Inmates.” Instead of blaming an overtaxed corrections system, and instead of yowling about those horrible people who went to prison as the result of a DUI death, why don’t we address the real problem: drinking and driving.
In my opinion, drinking and driving is encouraged by the state of Washington, which makes a bundle on alcohol sales. They sell it, they promote it, they encourage it and then they arrest people who use it. The wine industry and the senators and reps who back it, push it and promote are evidently laboring under the erroneous belief that drinking “good wine” couldn’t possibly be a problem and that wine drinkers are “connoisseurs,” not drunks. If you only drink “good wine,” you can’t possibly be an alcoholic. Wine tastings are a free drink for a lot of people, but they are sanctioned by the state in the name of the dollar. They “taste” and they drive home and it’s acceptable because it’s Washington’s “fine wines” they are drinking.
Don’t be so quick to judge. If you ever had one beer and drove, you could be in David Pleake’s shoes.
