I take a back seat to no one when it comes to love of this country, its flag, military, Constitution, etc. That said: Monday my wife informed me she had just seen on the internet that Chapala Express in Richland was flying its flag upside down.
My first words were, "Maybe the Mexicans are fed up with Obama too, and are flying it that way to express distress for the country." I thought there would be a logical explanation. That night, I learned the restaurant owner had said it was a mistake and apologized. End of story.
Not quite. A recent Herald article about the flag stated that the owners of Chapala Express have gotten nasty calls from as far away as Texas.
Doesn't anyone in the country wait for facts any more before jumping to conclusions?
Never miss a local story.
Somehow I believe if this restaurant was named Andy Grego's All-American Hotdogs, questions would have been asked before condemnation.
Yes there are Hispanic organizations that hate America and what it stands for, but not all Hispanics feel that way, and loyal Hispanic Americans should not be treated this way.
