Regarding the Seattle firm that is telling us what to do with Columbia Point, well this is my take: How about Richland cleans up the messes that are already here.
Start with the “pit” on George Washington Way, the empty restaurant by Wendy’s, Homesuites eyesore with only half the project done. Just love looking at trees growing out of a fenced construction site. Then over to Jadwin, the empty store next to Dairy Queen and the empty office buildings a block south of that. How about you work on those first. Clean them up and get new businesses in there, which in turn brings in revenue, i.e., taxes.
Leave our river front alone. Columbia Point is a great place to walk, enjoy the river and wildlife. Figure out the priorities of the citizens, city council, and stop listening to someone from the west side tell us what to do with our land.
Keep construction away from Columbia Point.
