My brother served our country for almost 50 years as a member of the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam, Germany and stateside at Fort Sill, Fort Bliss and Fort Lewis, honorably and with personal sacrifice.
While in Germany, the soldiers, during their morning exercises, would parade past his barracks, honoring him for his service and dedication — a military parade (salute) honoring a military man who had honorably served his country and fellow soldiers. It cost nothing for this and meant everything.
Now Trump wants his own parade, which he has neither earned nor deserves. It would mean nothing and cost millions — only to serve to feed his ego. And, of course, we will pay for it. Sometimes his actions spur a response, although I would rather not acknowledge him in any way.
