You really have to live it to believe it. And we did. We’ve seen the atmosphere change from one of inclusion and caring to one that allows hordes of men carrying torches and chanting Nazi slogans, to march on an American city — not Washington, but close enough.
Having been hiding under rocks for half a century, they nurtured, pandered and manipulated the man into power, who made them feel safe, even emboldened to come into the open. And they did.
Such an event, occurring on the heels of that presidential politicizing of our Boy Scouts, it’s time to ask: Is the German “re-education program” of the 1930s in progress in America? And how implicit have we all been in this retro slide?
