One thing that came out of last week’s Herald editorial board meeting with Rep. Larry Haler, R-Richland, and his Republican challenger Rob Welch was this little nugget that will be of interest to anyone who follows the Legislature.
And that was the two-term legislator’s prediction for the Legislature to be going into a little overtime in 2009 to deal with the (projected/alleged) budget mess (or revenue mess if you prefer).
“We’ll probably be going into a lot of overtime,” Haler said. “I’ve been talking with legislators on both sides of the aisle. We don’t expect to get out until the end of June.”
End of June?(!)
Could it be that budget talks have broken down before they’ve even started?
