Sen. Hewitt Legislature's biggest campaign donor

Just as he did four years ago Senate Minority Leader Mike Hewitt, R-Walla Walla, opened his campaign wallet wide this year to the tune of $120,000 to help out his caucus campaign committee.

We reported big picture totals for each of the Legislature’s four campaign committees a short time ago and you can find that post here.

In all there were 16 legislators who contributed at least $50,000 from their own campaigns to their respective caucus campaign committee so that money could be spent in competitive districts.

Here’s the roster for the 2008 election cycle’s 50k Club and how much each member contributed.

— Sen. Mike Hewitt, R-Walla Walla: $120,000

— Rep. Lynn Kessler, D-Hoquiam: $85,000

— Rep. Frank Chopp, D-Seattle: $83,000

— Sen. Mark Schoesler, R-Ritzville: $80,000

— Sen. Lisa Brown, D-Spokane: $80,000

— Rep. Mark Ericks, D-Bothell: $75,000

— Rep. Cary Condotta, R-Wenatchee: $75,000

— Sen. Linda Parlette, R-Wenatchee: $75,000

— Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos, D-Seattle: $68,000

— Rep. Judy Clibborn, D-Mercer Island: $60,000

— Rep. Jamie Pederson, D-Seattle: $60,000

— Sen. Brian Hatfield, D-Raymond: $57,000

— Rep. Doug Ericksen, R-Ferndale: $50,000
