An outfit called the Cannabis Defense Coalition sent a postcard to the mother ship recently touting a medical marijuana rally Monday in Olympia. You might say it was a bit trippy.
The postcard, posted at right, features a cartoon of Gov. Chris Gregoire, with smoke curly-cueing from her lips, smoking some sort of rolled substance.
The headline asks “What’s Gregoire Smoking?”
The coalition is opposing the Department of Health’s proposed rule to limit patients’ 60-day supply of medical marijuana to 24 ounces and six mature pot plants. Gregoire has taken a lot of heat for it.
I understand the arguments and the controversy the issue has generated. But I don’t get the cartoon. What’s Gregoire smoking?
Wait, don’t tell me. Cannabis? The same substance this group wants more access to?
I tried to explain it to a trio of Earthy looking Olympia Hempfest organizers who came through my office this week to promote the event. They couldn’t explain it either.
