Kennewick Democrat George Fearing not only kept pace with U.S. Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Pasco, in the fundraising department in July he actually finished having raised a few more dollars.
The difference is negligible and Hastings continues to enjoy a sizable cash on hand advantage, according to pre-primary reports filed yesterday with the Federal Election Commission. But don’t think that headline above won’t be bandied about by the Fearing camp anyway, as any challenger would in an uphill campaign.
Total receipts in July were near $36,900 for Fearing and $35,500 for Hastings. But the seven-term congressman has almost $340,000 in the bank to Fearing’s $48,000.
It's worth mentioning that Fearing contributed $3,500 to his own campaign during the month, bringing his campaign total to over $27,000.
