A 63-year-old and his German Shepherd were rescued from a burning home in Ritzville by firefighters Thursday morning.
The homeowner called 911 at 5:14 a.m. to report that his house was on fire and he couldn’t get out. Firefighters arrived 10 minutes later to find him lying in the hallway, and a few minutes later they found his dog.
The man is being treated in Seattle.
“The dog is in good condition and in the care of a friend of the victim,” said Ritzville Fire Chief Bill Banner.
The cause of the fire, which was limited to a bedroom, is under investigation.
