Tri-Cities Cancer Center (TCCC) is more than a world-class cancer treatment facility; we are a community resource, providing cancer prevention and numerous early detection offerings. Coordination between the TCCC and our hospital owners, Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Lourdes Health Network and Trios Health, provides our patients with the highest level of care and convenience. Community support has allowed the TCCC to expand our efforts to include a nationally recognized lung screening program and the development of Centers of Excellence, which focus on the most prevalent cancers witnessed in our community and across the country.
Collaboration and partnerships enable the TCCC to provide world-class cancer care. For instance, physician leaders from across the community have partnered with the TCCC to create a nationally accredited Breast Center of Excellence. We are working with our hospital partners to develop Centers of Excellence focusing on lung and urinary cancers, providing timely treatment and improved outcomes. At the heart of these “Centers” is a team of local physician specialists providing an approach to care that is typically only seen in university settings or metropolitan treatment centers. These efforts, coupled with the TCCC’s highly skilled treatment team, the latest technology and a wealth of Support Services are keeping patients close to home.
Continuing our 20-year commitment to providing world-class cancer care, your Tri-Cities Cancer Center has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with the world’s leading developer of cancer treatment systems, Varian. Our partnership provides timely investment of technologies that produce marked improvement in patient care and outcomes. Such was the case when we introduced Stereotactic Radiosurgery to our community in 2012. We have done it again by recently deploying a Varian product called Aria, an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, which provides greater clinical options and affords our patients the ability to access their health record from the comforts of their own home. Additionally, the TCCC has made a significant investment in information technology systems allowing our EMR system to communicate with each of our owner hospitals’ systems. This provides a seamless flow of patient information, allowing for timely treatment and communication between our patient’s care team.
The TCCC continues to partner with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) to provide our community with tomorrow’s medicine today in the form of clinical trials. Additionally, we are collaborating with the SCCA to create a world-class survivorship program for individuals once they complete treatment. The partnership with metropolitan treatment centers doesn’t end there. We are working more closely with Virginia Mason Medical Center and Swedish Cancer Institute, both in western Washington, to coordinate care and resources for the patients we serve.
Never miss a local story.
To provide greater support to our growing population, we are excited to announce our newest radiation oncologist, Dr. Guy Jones. Dr. Jones is a Hanford High School graduate. He serves as the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Chief Resident at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The NCI is the government’s foremost cancer research and training authority. The NIH is the leading research center for medicine in the world. The Tri-Cities is very fortunate to have a physician of his caliber return home to care for patients. The Cancer Center is very excited to welcome Dr. Jones to our team of skilled doctors, which includes our medical director, Dr. Sue Mandell, a former Lieutenant Commander in the Navy, and her partner, Dr. Juno Choe. Both are board-certified radiation oncologists. Dr. Jones will join our team this summer.
Finally, as our 20th anniversary comes to a close this year, we are excited to announce a major expansion to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center to enhance the comfort and privacy of patients in our care now and for the next 20 years. Thanks to your continued support, we are the region’s leader in cancer prevention, early detection, world-class treatment and survivorship. We are your Tri-Cities Cancer Center.
