Dawn Adams will remain on the Kennewick School Board after defeating challenger Brian Bradford in Tuesday’s election.
Adams, who is president of the board and had held a seat since 2001, collected 75 percent, or 6,624 votes, to Bradford’s 25 percent, or 2,241 votes.
Bradford campaigned as a fresh voice for the board, recommending ideas to save money and improve efficiencies while also calling for more programs to support students.
Adams said the district has been fiscally responsible during her time on the board and maintained academic excellence even as the district’s non-English speaking and low-income students increased.
Board member Heather Kintzley also was re-elected but did not face any challengers.
