The Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board will hold its third public hearing on the safety culture at Hanford and other Department of Energy defense sites Oct. 7.
The hearing is expected to be webcast from Washington, D.C., 5:30 to 8:45 a.m. Pacific Time at www.dnfsb.gov.
Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz will discuss his vision for establishing a strong safety culture at DOE and his views on other DOE priorities. The board also will hear from Mark Whitney, the acting assistant secretary for environmental management. Whitney will discuss how safety culture concerns are being addressed.
