A partnership of RJ Lee Group and PBS Engineering and Environmental has been awarded a three-year contract to provide laboratory analysis of geotechnical engineering parameters for Hanford.
The contract was awarded by CH2M Hill Plateau Remediation Co.
Soil testing performed under the contract will be used for future engineering studies for environmental cleanup, hydrological investigations and studies of where to place groundwater monitoring wells.
The enhanced geotechnical services will expand those RJ Lee Group already provides through the Center for Laboratory Sciences at Columbia Basin College. The lab is a public-private partnership with CBC. The facility now will offer geotechnical analysis on potential radiological samples that are beyond the typical capabilities of a geotechnical engineering laboratory.
"It will broaden and deepen our analytical service offerings throughout the company and improve our ability to offer CBC students a state-of-the-art experience," said Rich Lee, chief executive of RJ Lee.
