Two Hanford tank farm workers reported smelling odors consistent with chemical vapors Wednesday and were evaluated by the site medical provider as a precaution, according to Washington River Protection Solutions.
They had no symptoms and were released to return to work.
The workers smelled the odor at the SY Tank Farm, where suspicious odors have been reported before. Workers left the tank farm and access there remains restricted until samples are analyzed.
Since early spring, 49 Hanford workers have been medically evaluated for possible chemical vapor exposure.
A draft report on possible solutions to chemical vapor issues is expected within the next few weeks. The study is being coordinated by the Savannah River National Laboratory in South Carolina.
