Numerous local high schools will offer plant sales this Mother’s Day weekend to raise money for their schools’ FFA programs.
• Chiawana High School’s plant sale is from 3 to 8 p.m. May 7-8, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 9 in the school greenhouse, 8125 W. Argent Road, Pasco.
A large variety of vegetable plants will be available, including: arugula, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumbers, eggplant, fennel, kale, leek, lettuce, melons, onion, pumpkin, peppers, spinach, squash, tomatoes and herbs. Geraniums, petunias, bulbs and houseplants will also be available.
• Kamiakin High School’s plant sale is from 2:20 to 5:30 p.m. May 7, and 2:20 to 4 p.m. May 8 in the school greenhouse, 600 N. Arthur St., Kennewick.
For sale will be annual and perennial bedding plants, vegetables, herbs, ornamental grasses, house plants, and a variety of ivy geranium and mixed flower hanging baskets. Metal art, including welcome signs and specialty art pieces, will be for sale as well.
• Kiona-Benton City High School’s plant sale is from 3 to 5:30 p.m. May 8, and from 8 to 11 a.m. May 9 in the school greenhouse, 1205 Horne Drive, Benton City.
There will be multitude of hanging baskets, large heirloom tomatoes, flowers and vegetables.
Hermiston High’s FFA plant sale is from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 8, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 9. Plants may be purchased in the school’s greenhouse, 600 S. First St.
Items for sale include hanging baskets, flowers and vegetables, all of which have been cultivated by the plant propagation and horticulture class at Hermiston High.
