Several hundred people attended a Friday morning ribbon-cutting at the newly remodeled Cascade Elementary School in Kennewick.
The ceremony marks the end of a yearlong remodeling project at the school on Highland Drive school.
The 30-year-old building has new electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, heating and ventilation systems. Some of the school's new features include larger classrooms, a new kindergarten wing, natural daylight from skylights and a full size gym with wood floors. The former gym space was converted into a cafeteria and multipurpose room.
Kennewick School District voters approved a $68 million bond in 2009 which paid for the work along with other projects.
