A Hermiston man was arrested after shooting another man Wednesday in a dispute over a woman.
Hermiston police responded to calls about 8:15 a.m. at 425 N.W. 11th St. of a man who was shot in the leg, said Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston.
The men knew each other and the argument was allegedly over a woman who was not identified.
Police helped by arresting Rodriguez Barriga, 23, about 9:25 a.m. at a home in Umatilla.
Rodriguez Barriga was booked into the Umatilla County jail on suspicion of second-degree assault. Bail was set at $50,000.
The victim, who was not named, was taken to Good Shepherd Hospital where he was treated and later released.
“Life is about choices and the decisions made today by those involved are frustrating,” Edmiston said. “At some point people need to take responsibility for what they value.”
