A Kennewick man who refused to pay his taxi fare and was acting erratically Wednesday became quite a handful for Pasco police.
Officers were called to the King City Truck Stop in northeast Pasco early that morning after a cab driver complained that Jose Heriberto Barrera, 21, failed to pay for a ride, police said.
Barrera reportedly showed symptoms of being under the influence of a stimulant drug and had an outstanding felony warrant out of Benton County on a drug charge.
He resisted having handcuffs placed on him, tried to run away, then attempted to avoid being placed in a patrol car. Officers eventually put him in leg restraints.
“The two arresting officers described it as trying to put a cat in a bathtub of water,” a police news release said.
Barrera was booked into the Franklin County jail on suspicion of resisting arrest. Corrections officers later reported that Barrera has been uncooperative while in custody.
