Pasco and Kennewick police teamed up to catch a suspected serial shoplifter after a store employee caught the Kennewick man eating doughnuts he didn’t pay for.
A security employee at the Kennewick Walmart spotted Kyle Ray Vanhalteren, 27, snacking on doughnuts at 10:42 p.m. Sunday before trying to leave the store with a cart full of other items he had not paid for.
The store employee claimed Vanhalteren made off with $900 in goods from the Pasco Walmart on Friday, according to police.
Kennewick police contacted Pasco police, who arrived to arrest Vanhalteren.
He was booked into the Franklin County jail and on investigation of second-degree burglary and theft.
